Cefas Survey around Wylfa Oct 2013
This week a team from Cefas have been carrying out a survey in the area.
Cefas is a government agency which undertakes radiological habits surveys on behalf of the Environment Agency (EA), the Foods Standards Agency (FSA) and the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR).
The purpose of the surveys are to ensure that the public health is not compromised by exposure to radioactivity in the environement.
The last survey in this area was carried out in 2009. Surveys are carried out approximately every 5 years.
The survey primarily to look at the length of time spent within 1km of the Wylfa site, both indoors and outdoors and how much locally produced food people consume.
This year the survey is extended to 1.2km as so many houses have been demolished within the 1km radius that there are not as many people to interview as there had been in 2009.
