For the first time locks have been added to the field gates. Presumably as the hard surfaces are being laid down this is to prevent unauthorised access to wheel vehicles. or to prevent contractors leaving gates open and letting out the cattle. They used to be just tied up with string. Happily fo rthe moment most still are.
These locks are put on for health and safety reason as these areas are now construction sites and they stop people going into areas and getting hurt...... A bit better than string if you ask me.
ReplyDeleteNo, the locks seem to be just to stop vehicle access. The kissing gates and footpaths are still open and unlocked. See 16 March, 2014 posting showing the implementation of a safety segregation system for local people and walkers using the Anglesey Coastal Footpath and site vehicles.
DeleteI think you will find the locked gates are part of a traffic management plan! which in part is a section of a health & safety plan! which therefore falls under health and safety! As I am a Health & Safety professional I think I would know what is safe practice and what is incorrect information. I personally think they have gone above and beyond to keep my local community safe. Also thank you for your recent photos which has saved me writing about segregated walkways!! As a local person (born here!!) I find your blog informative but speculative and at times misleading. Phrases such as "to prevent contractors leaving gates open and letting out the cattle" is a trouble causing statement. I have livestock and the contractors that come onto the fields have always been fantastic and given me great communication so please try and be a bit informative and less misleading with incorrect information and speculation. Keep up with the blog it is very interesting seeing how you took the photos.
