Weir at Cemlyn

This weir regulates the height of the water in the fresh water lake, behind the shingle bank at Cemlyn. It helps to regulate the water around the tern nesting site. The large wall is the house Bryn Arber.

From Tyddyn Sydney to Bryn Aber, Cemlyn

A grey calm morning. But away from scurrying diggers, tipper trucks, cranes, drilling rigs, street cleaning vehicles and flashing lights of the survey area next to Wylfa. Walking from Tyddyn Sydney to Bryn Aber along the Cemlyn shingle bank.

Storm Passes over Cemlyn

Storm force 9 winds blow over Cemlyn. Shelter on the beach from the stone ridge. Waves and sprat hitting the Skerries, but too windy to stand up to the wind and take a photo. All the stones thrown up onto the car park from the last storm now tipped back on the beach from the car park!

Cemlyn Nature Reserve

Cemlyn Bay is a very short walk from Cestyll Gardens and Wylfa.
There are two car parks. The east one is accessed first when walking from Cestyll Gardens.
Cemlyn Bay is an important wildlife area. Land here is owned by the National Trust with management input by the North Wales Wildlife Trust.
In addition to being a Wildlife Trust Reserve it is a Special Protection Area, a candidate Special Area of Conservation, a Site of Special Scientific Interest and part of the Anglesey Area of Outstanding natural Beauty.
